I’ve been receiving a ton of comment spam lately and I’m trying to be very careful in scanning through them before I delete them all to make sure there isn’t a new commenter in the bunch. What a waste of time. Fortunately I had the forethought to set up my blog so that all comments with links won’t post automatically. Do you guys get comment spam, too? My other blogs haven’t yet – I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they don’t.

I read your post and went back to look at Akismet on my page, and found three comments there from you! I have had 276 in 6 months, Only one actually got through the filter. My problem is real comments getting stuck in the filter.
Hi Sandy, that’s my problem, too, which is why I have to look through each comment. I get spammed at night so I have lots to look through in the morning. What a pain. I just deleted four comments without links for prescription drugs.
The last few days I’ve been getting spam comments with links to one of those *reblogger* sites related to cricket – the game – not my bunny.
Strange how they find you, isn’t it?
I got spammed when I first started my blog, but I didn’t have “word verification” set up. I learned REAL quick how to turn it on.
As far as I can remember, I have received one “spammy-esque” comment from someone who runs an optics “blog”…(More like one big sales pitch, actually)
Laura – I don’t know how they get ahold of our blogs. Casinos and prescription drugs – I don’t do either one!
Susan, fortunately they are stashed in an awaiting moderation folder so I can read them before approving / disapproving them.
I noticed that I had got a ton of spam as soon as I had emailed someone on AOL my url! Ever since that one day I get about 25 a day all AOL based! Ugg,
Mon@rch – I have an incoming link that I don’t recognize, and ever since that link I have been getting all of this spam – for casinos and prescription drugs and sometimes nasty stuff. I’ll have to see if I can somehow unlink from this unknown blog. Argh!
