I don't think it was so bad that we were discreet and modest in years past. There was a thing called class back then. It's kind of like that commercial that says, "Too much information!" When people tell you too personal of stuff they probably feel like they are bonding, going beyond casual friendship to a motherly or sister type of bonding.
