A Ruby-Throated Hummingbird and a Black-Capped Chickadee

A Ruby-Throated Hummingbird was chasing a Black-Capped Chickadee, they buzzed over my head and the Black-Capped Chickadee landed on the Rose of Sharon, only to have the Ruby-Throated Hummingbird dart back and forth in front of it. I have no clue what happened to spur this activity, but it was interesting to see. They took off after a couple of seconds.

And here’s the sky tonight, all cloudless and innocent looking, yah, right:

Northern Cardinals, again

Okay, this morning I lifted the Levolor on a window that faces the garden, and saw the Northern Cardinal family on my Lovage. Unfortunately, I scared them with the Levolor action. But one of the young ones hopped around on my deck, so I got to see him up close. It’s too cute, he’s still brown and getting his red feathers as the photos from the other day indicate. No photos, sorry, I wasn’t coordinated enough at the time to get the batteries loaded into the camera in time to get photos of the little guy through the window screen.

More Rain!

This morning I woke up to yet more rain! I wasn’t in the mood to even check the basement, I don’t care if the house floats away, maybe I should be building an ark. Those were the thoughts that floated through my head (no pun intended). I took this photo around 9:00 AM and it was still raining. This is the total amount of rain I have received from Monday July 10th to Saturday Morning, July 15th. All I ask is for one inch of rain a week, almost five inches of rain is a little extreme, don’t ya think?
