Looking Really Closely at Yarrow Flowers

I’ve walked by my Mother’s and my own yarrow plants a million times, and have only noticed their beautiful color and wonderful smell:

But a couple of weeks ago my Mother asked me if I’d ever really looked closely at yarrow flowers. I haven’t – duh! They are *really* intense!

This is my second attempt at getting this macro, and it’s still not the best.  I’ll keep trying.  Or maybe I need a DSLR!!  Hmmmm. . .

Tasha Tudor, 1915-2008

I am so sad for Tasha Tudor’s family today as she passed away today.  My Mom and I went to see her in Reading, PA a while ago and she was a very wonderful storyteller and artist.  Too bad this was before I had video on my camera, because what we saw was priceless.  If you don’t know who I’m talking about, please check out her website here.

Warning – Extreme Cuteness Ahead

OMG the little boy at work that I mention quite frequently had the *cutest* little outfit on. Are you ready for this?

When I entered the room I discovered him on the floor. He’s always a little shy at first:

And I told him I loved his outfit and could he please stand up so I could take his photo, and he got all into it!

Besides the smile and general cuteness of this little boy, the cutest part is, are you ready for this? It’s way too cute!

Doesn’t this go off the cuteness scale? Not only the outfit, but the fact he actually posed soooo cute, too! P.S. And yes, I’ve mentioned previously that I love his little hands, aren’t they just the sweetest?

Very Cool (Little) Spider

After mowing and weed whacking my Mom’s yard, I was resting when I spied a little spider on the side of her house. I had my camera in my pocket and grabbed some macro shots. This is one cool spider!

How pretty! And hairy!

Ohhh, spiders are really cool!

Yowsa! How many eyeballs do you have?

Wanna Know One Thing I Really Can’t Stand?

Hearing about people’s illnesses. I’m just too empathetic. Yesterday one of the employees was throwing up and she came to my office with her throw up voice to ask me if she could go home because she was throwing up and she proceeded to tell me the details of what she was throwing up. Now I am a very compassionate, sympathetic / empathetic person, but I really don’t need the details. Because it makes me want to throw up, too.

And another thing, one of the problems of working with women is having to hear when they are having their “monthly” and the details of that, too (and this includes my boss). WTF? Really. Details.  I’m a female, I don’t need “those” details, seriously.

And diarrhea. Why do I have to hear that someone has taken 20,000 Immodium things and still is having diarrhea?

Since when have we gotten so open and vocal about these personal things? I really don’t want to know details, do you? Blech.

Here, let’s have another view of the man with chaps to take our minds off of the gory details:

Ahhh, that’s better!

Well, maybe you aren’t this extreme, but you’re in league with the crazy scientists/mathmeticians of today. Very few people have the talent of math and science is something takes a lot of brains as well. Thank whosever God you worship, or don’t worship, so thank no deity whatsoever in your case, for you people! Most of us would have died off without your help.

A Book Meme

I saw this on Winter Woman’s blog here.

The Rules:

1. Pick up the nearest book. (okay, I have a pile of books near me, picking one up. . .)
2. Open to page 123. (since my page 123 only has two sentences, I’m using page 122).
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.

“There was a light snow a few days before, just a crust under the trees, and mud everywhere else. I was looking for fungas, ye know, the big orange things that grow on the trees low down, sometimes – and put my foot through a rind of snow into a patch of grass, growing in an open spot between the trees; reckon a little sun got there sometimes. Usually the deer find those patches. . . .”

Questions:

1. Do you know what book my quote comes from? (Hint: I’ve mentioned the author before as one of my favorites)!

2. Do you want to play (/procrastinate)?

29th of Feb

I just had to post tonight even though I don’t have anything to say because it was weird to write February 29 today. It made me wonder what people who are born on this day do to celebrate their birthday during non-leap years!

Happy Birthday to those who have their birthday today!

I don’t know what I would do. What would you do?

Nightshade, by Susan Wittig Albert

Remember Susan Albert’s blog tour for The Tale of Hawthorne House, the latest book in her Cottage Tales of Beatrix Potter mystery series? She posted about Beatrix Potter’s Lake District on my blog here. I thought you would. Well, Susan is doing another blog tour for the 16th book in her China Bayles mystery series. Nightshade is coming out on April 1st and my blog will be on her tour once again. More details later!

Today in the mail I received an advance copy of Susan’s book Nightshade signed by Susan! How awesome is this?

DSC03593_crop

I should have taken the photo before starting to read it so the cover would have stayed flat!

I’ve seen advance copies on other people’s blogs, I’ve drooled over the thoughts of reading a book by a favorite author before it actually hits the stores, and now I don’t have to drool any longer, and I don’t have to wait (impatiently) until April 1st to read Nightshade! I’m on Chapter 3 and you know what I’ll be doing for the rest of the night! Susan totally made my day!

Happy Valentine’s Day!!

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of my blogging and real life friends and family! I hope this Valentine’s day brings you whatever you love the most, whether it’s birdies (a lifer would be great) and/or something else really cool from nature, and/or one of my favorites, chocolate covered strawberries!

chocolate_strawberry
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
P.S. Not my photo or strawberry – mine would be covered to the top in chocolate!

Whatever it is that is love and happiness for you, I hope you really enjoy your day to the max!

Love,

Pam
