Hot Shot!

I had the best laid plans of taking some awesome photos of Syracuse from high up for you today! Seriously! I had it all planned out. I got all ready and dressed to go, then I looked out the window. SNOW! Coming down bad. So I’m thinking, it’s just over my home, let me watch the weather. Nope! The weather over Lake Ontario was being very naughty today and instead of just doing its normal huge dump on Oswego Co. it swung down to the southeast and travelled all along the route I take to Syracuse. Now I’m not afraid of snow. I am however *very* afraid of other people who take their vehicles out in the snow with no clue how to drive them in it. Not only this, the two counties that I have to travel through, Wayne and Cayuga Cos., are very bad about plowing their roads clean like my county or Onondaga County. So I was stuck at home today – still working – gotta love the power of email and the web! I had a presentation due today for Saturday’s Death With Chocolate Coffee House Mystery at OHA, and it made it through via my website with flying colors! Woo Hoo! And they love it. It’s dripping with chocolate and deep burgundy. I’ll probably put it on their website eventually so you can see it.

I ended up going to the gym later than usual because the sun *did* come out. But even so, it is still very cold and blowing and the roads were bad (don’t get me started on the drivers). The gym was irritating. There was *way* too much testosterone in there (not that I mind that) but they were banging the machines and grunting loudly. Those noises are so unnecessary, IMHO. And gross.

I did bring my camera with me on the way to/from the gym, but it was just way too cold and windy to stop anywhere. So here I am photoless today. Then I remembered Mary and I talked about posting “hot shots.” So here’s a “hot shot” from Costa Rica taken in January of 2004, not by me, but given to me!

I would love to be walking along this nice hot beach watching this sunset, right now! Wouldn’t you?

A place with warm weather is looking better all the time!

Have you been to Wyoming? Just sat and watched Flicka, the movie.
That was one of my favorite books as a kid, and the movie was good, too. The scenery was beautiful. I have traveled through Cheyenne in winter, but it didn’t look much like where this was filmed (Sheridan).

  2. Pam…shudder…death with Chocolate? Can chocolate be dangerous? Kudos to you! That’s a great looking ppt and you need to try to let us view it.

I’m sorry you are inside but you are smart not to risk it. You know where it’s safe to travel. I guess my “hot shot” was the fly on the porch but others might think I’ve flown the coop.

The snow needs to stop. Enough, already!

And yes, I did enjoy that sunset. Oooooo, the balmy breezes from the water…

  3. If there must be death involved, I would prefer to have it with chocolate.

I loved the line on the website: Eat, drink and be wary. That’s clever.

I am so not witty tonight. I am watching Starman and trying to leave pithy comments, but I am too sucked into the movie.

  4. Sandy – isn’t it though? I’ve seen Flicka advertised. When I go to BJ’s today I’ll pick it up! You know I’ve never visited the northwestern part of the US and really would like to some day. I’ve heard it’s gorgeous.

Lynne – looking forward to your “hot shot!” I’m tired of being cold to the core – can’t wait to warm up again!

Mary – yeah the educational lady told me yesterday to enjoy a nice mug of hot chocolate. My response was “as long as it doesn’t kill me!” Mmmm, hot chocolate, sounds good right about now. I love your fly “hot shot” and your sunset! Yowsa! Mmmmm, balmy breezes would be so nice.

Mon@rch – I take it you would want to go to Costa Rica for all of the interesting wildlife? I could have gone on a trip, but didn’t want to put up with 99.9% humidity in 100 degree or more weather. And huge bugs. They talk about the bugs crawling around on them at night. I wouldn’t be able to sleep. Since the bugs down there are the size of your hand. But you probably wouldn’t mind it! I wish the person that took the Costa Rica photos on my Flick account did a much better job. Oh well. They thought they were nice!
Yes, I’m glad yesterday is over with! I don’t like having my plans thwarted by the weather!

Susan – oh yeah, death involving chocolate would be heavenly. Which brings to mind those Kahlua chocolate covered strawberries again. Mmmmm.
“Eat, drink and be wary” Elaine the educational person at OHA is very clever with words. It’s fun working with her!
    Never seen Starman!
