We had so much rain in the fall of 2006 in southern Ontario that the farmers couldn’t get their machines on the fields to harvest the corn. Finally the ground firmed up enough in December for the harvest. The corn is used in dried form for livestock anyway.
Must be cow corn! I bet the birds love that they are doing harvest right now!!
Interesting! Yes, the birds must be feeling like they hit the jackpot.
I didn’t know they could harvest corn so late either. I do know that the kernels will dry out on the husks after fall. It probably is cow feed or bird seed or something like that.
I worked at a corn processing plant in S. Ontario for over a year & the typical harvest time was August. Not sure where you’re at or what your conditions are, but it IS unusual to see that corn truck in a field next to all that snow!
Mon@rch – must be! There’s tons of birds around there!
Mary – yup, they are!
Lana – upstate NY here and that’s why I found it unusual!
Flower – It was quite a surprise to see this going on!
That seems quite late for corn. Nice pile of snow going there!
